Watch on EPTV: Brazil hosts U13 South American Cricket Championship
Over the weekend, from October 11, 12 and 13, the Cricket Poços de Caldas received at the Training Center of the Associação Atlética Caldense the South American Sub 13 Men’s Cricket Championship. This official championship, unprecedented in Brazil, had the presence of youth teams from Argentina, Chile, Peru and Brazil, which was all formed by players from Poços de Caldas.
The team from Brazil had a great performance in the games and surprised the fans by winning the bronze medal, winning twice the team from Chile and making a beautiful and very disputed game against the team of Argentina, favorite of the championship, with 85 points for the boys from Brazil against 88 for the Argentines. The grand final was held between the teams of Peru and Argentina, a game won by Peru with 98 points (races) against 94 from Argentina.
This result was very gratifying for the boys of Poços de Caldas. Many of them have known Cricket for less than a year and have shown that all the dedication in daily training has paid off. Cricket classes and training are currently held in Poços de Caldas at the AA Caldense club, at Parque Municipal Antonio Molinari, at Colégio Municipal Dr. José Vargas de Souza, at Projeto Bem Viver, at Casa do Menos, at Galpão das Artes, at AADV (using rattle balls for the visually impaired) and the Projeto Criança Feliz. Classes are open to interested parties.
The next Championship, which will also be held at the CT of Caldense, will be the Brazilian Women’s Cricket Championship from the 25th to the 27th of this month and Poços de Caldas will receive the female selection Cricket from Brasília-DF, which on this occasion will also play against the national team male sub 19 from Poços.
