A group of cricket experts from Chile, Argentina, Australia, Canada and England attended the Associação Atlética Ca
ldense, last week, teaching courses for teachers and players from Poços de Caldas. There were three days of lectures and practical classes to improve the technical level of students in the city. According to Matt Featherstone, the purpose was to bring more knowledge to the instructors so that they can teach Poços players during training and competitions. The course was organized by members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In addition to Poços athletes, the course received some players from other cities in Brazil. According to Featherstone, another goal of the course is the training of at least seven monitors so that in 2016 they help with classes in city projects. “I am sure that we will be able to bring cricket to more people in Poços de Caldas and that is why the increase in the number of monitors in the city is of fundamental importance for our projects,” he said.

For Australian Wade Edwards, from ICC, Poços de Caldas has been surprising in the evolution of the sport and for this reason there is a great focus on the works done in the city. “The idea was for a course in Buenos Aires and another in Brazil. We chose Poços de Caldas due to the energy that the city has and all the good it has been producing in cricket. Here we saw six to seven boys and girls with a lot of potential and who are very close to the technical level we need. This basic technical course will help a lot in this regard and with it we will be able to expand projects in the city in 2016 ”, said Wade. “Every time we come to Poços de Caldas the feeling of happiness is very great due to the dedication and concentration on the development of the sport in Brazil. Here, young people embraced the sport and every time we came we were more surprised ”, said Wade. Matt Featherstone, responsible for bringing the sport to Poços, highlights that the partnership with the members of the ICC is very important for the growth of the sport in Poços. “We are showing service in Poços and with this the support is greater. We are showing news and work and I believe that everyone is happy with this ”, he said.

Another teacher who came to the city is the Australian Tom, who sees Poços de Caldas for the first time. “I was very excited by everything I saw in Poços de Caldas. The group is very good, has great energy, a lot of desire and the technical level surprised me very positively”, said Tom.
